PROVINS! Come discover this authentic medieval town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
A remarkable city where everyone will leave with unforgettable memories. Located in the Île-de-France region, one hour from Paris, Disneyland Paris, the Chessy/Marne-la-Vallée train station, and the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports, and just a stone’s throw from Burgundy and Champagne.
The former capital of the Counts of Champagne, which was once the third-largest city in France (from 1019 to 1284), will charm you with its 58 monuments from the 12th and 13th centuries, its falconry and knightly shows, and its rose garden—designated a “remarkable garden”—where you can admire the famous “Rosa Gallica officinalis,” or the Rose of Provins, brought back by Thibault IV of Champagne during a crusade.
Provins offers a unique glimpse into the early days of economic and cultural exchange in Europe through the major fairs held in Champagne (12th and 13th centuries). At that time, it minted its own currency: the denier provinois (recognized for its value throughout medieval Europe).
